Life cycle of the insect:_x000D_ There are four stages in its life cycle. Egg, larva, pupa, adult._x000D_ _x000D_ Egg: - After the first monsoon rains, adult beetles come out of the soil in the evening and feed on the leaves of plants like neem, acacia, exotic acacia etc. A female usually lays 50 to 60 eggs in 15 to 18 days._x000D_ Larve: - The first instar larva duration is of 60 to 90 days, the second instar is of 55 to 110 days and the third instar larva duration is of 4 to 5 months._x000D_ Pupae: - In the third stage, the fully developed larvae move into the soil at a depth of 70 cm in the incubation phase (20 to 22 minutes)._x000D_ Adult: - It usually takes one year to complete a generation._x000D_ _x000D_ Nature of damage:_x000D_ The larva initially eats the soil organic matter, and then completely destroys the roots by piercing the roots of the sugarcane crop. The leaves of the affected canes turn yellow and the plants dry up._x000D_ _x000D_ Biological control:_x000D_ 1) When the larva initially live on organic materials, add beauveria bassiana @ 25 kg / ha along with manure during the kharif season._x000D_ 2) After irrigating the crop, mix the fungicide with dung and apply it near the roots of the sugarcane crop in the field._x000D_ _x000D_ Chemical Control:_x000D_ 1) Carbofuran should be given after the first monsoon rains._x000D_ _x000D_ _x000D_
