This is known as the surface grasshopper. Female insects lay eggs in the soil Emerging nymphs feed on young weeds from the field boundaries. Nymphs & adults, both of them, cut germinated wheat plants near the soil surface and feed on them. Necessary control measures should be taken if there is an excess of population in the field.
