The Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in the country as soon as the Election Commission declared the Lok Sabha elections, but this will not discontinue the work of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme (PM-KISAN). That means farmers will receive Rs. 2,000 in their account on April 1, and it is no longer a belief due to the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct. Under this scheme, the first instalment of Rs. 2000 has reached the account of nearly 20 million farmers. Significantly, on February 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally launched the PM-KISAN scheme in Gorakhpur. On the same day, first instalment of Rs. 2,000 reached the eligible farmers' account. Aadhar was not mandatory for this scheme. However, for the second instalment, the aadhar number is mandatory with biometric check as an exemption, which will be mandatory for the third instalment.
