Restrictions of Pea Seeds Import Eliminated
The Indian government has eradicated limitations on pea seed imports. This shift can help to lower prices and boost commodity availability in the domestic market. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) stated in a notification that the imports are subject to certain conditions. While imports were permitted with a license previously, an importer would not require a public license now.
Import policy of pea seeds is amended from restricted to free category. Imports of pea seeds have decreased marginally from USD 1.89 million in 2017-18 to USD 1.59 million in 2018-19.
