Reduced water levels in reservoirs in several states
In addition to Gujarat and Maharashtra, water levels in Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal reservoirs have dropped significantly below the average level of the last ten years. Farmers can face irrigation problems while sowing crops together with summer drinking water.
According to the report released by the Central Water Resources Ministry, water level in reservoirs of Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Tripura, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala is lower compared to last year whereas Himachal Pradesh, Water levels in Punjab, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are higher than last year. Water level in the reservoirs of Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh is the same as last year.
