This caterpillar has a habit of twisting curls on slight touching. At night, it comes out from the soil and cut the stem close to the gound level and feeds tender leaves & twigs. Large number of potato cut plants are seen in the morning. Later crop stage, is also feeds on developing tubers in the soil. Keep small heap of grass (weeds) in the field in evening and recollect & destroy them alongwith caterpillars in the morning. Continuing this process from time to time can destroy a large number of caterpillars.
