Part (I) Increase Crop Production through Beekeeping
Beekeeping, which is associated with agriculture, aids to provide honey and wax. It involves significantly lower expenditure with maximum benefit. It can help farmers to increase production of field crops and horticultural crops. Bee pollination provides maximum yield. Importance of beekeeping: • Bees are excellent pollinators that collect pollen and nectar from 100 flowers at a time. • Bees are considered social insects; 20 to 80,000 bees live together in a single beehive. • Bees can increase pollination activity by 16% in floricultural crops.
Equipment for beekeeping: The equipment needed for beekeeping includes wooden box, box frame, mesh cover, gloves, knife, honey, honey extractor, and drum (to collect honey). Types of bees: There are five types of bees, namely Apis Mellifera, Epis Indica, Apis Dorsata, Epis Floria and Melipona Iridipennis. Apis Mellifera bees produce maximum honey. These can be easily reared in wooden box. The Queen of this species has the capacity to lay maximum eggs. Source - Mr. S. K.
