The outbreak of papaya mealy bug is noticed first time in Coimbatore during 2008 and later on spread in Kerala, Karnataka, Tripura and Maharashtra. This pest sucks the sap by remaining on leaves, stem and fruits. About 60-80 percent damaged is caused by mealy bugs.
