Onion crop management
In the months of September and October, cultivation and crop management of onion is very important. Before cultivating onion, deep plough the soil and mix decomposed FYM @8 to 10 tons/acre, with the soil well. Make horizontal and vertical lines and create beds as per your convenience. Before cultivating onion, for weed control, if 1.5 ml of Oxyfluorfen is mixed in 1 liter of water and sprayed, weeds will not grow for 45 days.
Keep distance of 15*10 cm between two plants, while cultivating onion. The fertilizer dose for onion should be 50 kg Urea, 50 kg 10:26:26 and 20 kg Bensulf per acre.
Initially, at the time of cultivation, half dose of Urea along with full dose of Phosphorus, Potash and Sulphur should be given. After 30 to 40 days, remaining dose should be given to the plants. After 25 to 30 days of plantation, 19:19:19 soluble fertilizer should be sprayed. Also, after 60 days, if 0:52:34 soluble fertilizer is sprayed, it helps in the vigorous growth of crop. To control blight, Mancozeb 30 gm/pump should be mixed in water and should be sprayed at an interval of 5 to 20 days. Also, to control sucking pests, Lambda cyhalothrin 5 EC 10 ml/pump or Dimethoate 30 EC 25 ml/pump should be sprayed.
