The larvae of this insect feed on a wide range of plants, including many cultivated crops. Lets know deep about this insect. Symptoms of damage: Larvae feed on the flowers It bore circular holes on fruits Larva thrust part of their body inside the fruit and feed the internal content. Identification of pest: Eggs are spherical in shape and creamy white in colour and are laid singly. Larva shows colour variation from green to brown. Pupa is brown in colour. Pupation takes place in soil, leaf, and pod. Adult: Female brownish yellow moth, Male is pale greenish in colour with V shaped markings. Management: Collect and destroy the infected fruits and grown up larvae. Grow simultaneously 40 days old marigold and 25 days old tomato seedling at 1:10 rows to attract Helicoverpa adults for egg laying. Install pheromone traps @ 6/acre. Spray carbaryl 50 WP 2 g/lit or B. thuringiensis 2 g/lit Do not spray insecticides after maturity of fruits.
