Nature of Damage & Control of Leaf Eating Caterpillar in Summer Groundnut
 Summer groundnut is cultivated in most states. _x000D_  The incidence is more common at early stage of the crop. _x000D_  Under higher humidity, the infestation is much more of leaf eating caterpillar. _x000D_  Early stage of caterpillar scrap the chlorophyll content of the leaves and feed on young leaves, while in later stage, defoliate the leaves leaving behind the veins of leaves. _x000D_  At noon, caterpillars hide in the crack & crevices of the soil near the stem of the plants. _x000D_  If population is observed during the reproductive crop stage, they can also damage the developing pods in soil. _x000D_  Install pheromone traps at co-operative bases. _x000D_  On initiation, spray neem based formulation @ 20 ml (1% EC) to 40 ml (0.15% EC) or Beauveria bassiana, fungus base powder @ 40 g or Bacillus thuringiensis, a bacterial base powder @ 10 g or SLNPV 250 LE @ 10 ml per 10 lit of water. _x000D_  Two sprays of pongamia (karanj oil) oil or neem @ 30 ml per 10 lit of water at 15 days interval starting from pest infestation. To prepare ponneem, mix 450 ml of neem oil + 450 ml of pongamia oil (karanj oil) + 100 ml of soap solution (wetting agent) (recommendation of Junagadh Agril. Uni.)._x000D_  On higher incidence, spray thiamethoxam 12.6% + lambda cyhelothrin 9.5% ZC @ 4 ml or methomyl 40 SP @ 12 g per 10 lit of water. _x000D_
