National Veterinary Control Program to be launched
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is part of an effort to double farmers' income, has begun on September 11 in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The program has been launched to eradicate salivary disease and brucellosis in livestock. Central government will provide 100% of the funds and expenditure of Rs 12,652 crore is expected for a period of five years until 2024. The program will vaccinate 50 million cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep and pigs. The program also aims to vaccinate 3.6 million female calves for the eradication of brucellosis. There are two components to the program: controlling the disease by 2025 and eliminating the disease by 2030. The Prime Minister will start a national artificial insemination program on this day. Besides, nationwide workshops are likely to be launched in 687 district agricultural science centers in the country on vaccination, disease management, artificial insemination and productivity.
