Advisory ArticleAgroStar Agronomy Centre of Excellence
Measures to prevent fruit drop in citrus fruits orchard.
1. No deep intercultural operations should be done in the orchard during fruit bearing period. 2. For the growing fruits to get sufficient nutrition, there should be enough new leaves on the tree. For that use fertilizers as per recommendation. 3. Along with FYM, give 100 gm Trichoderma per tree at the onset of monsoon. 4. Along with chemical fertilizers, give Zinc Sulphate 200 gms and Borax 250 gms by mixing with the soil. 5. If you want to give these fertilizers by spraying, spray Zinc Sulphate 0.5% and Boron 0.1%. 6. Prevent water stress to the tree during Ambiya Bahar.
7. For proper growth of the fruits, provide appropriate amount of water. 8. Do not allow water to be clogged in the orchard during monsoon. 9. The fruits which have fallen down from time to time should be collected immediately and should be buried in the compost pit outside the orchard. 10. For more and better quality yield, for every tree above 10 years of age, give recommended amount of 30 kg FYM, 5 kg neem cake, 500 gms Nitrogen, 250 gms Potash and 100 gm Phosphorus soluble bacteria and 100 gms Azospirillum per tree.
