Mealybug life cycle
Economic Importance: Mealybug are infesting on tender parts of the plants, twigs and pods, fruits etc. It secretes honeydew like all other sucking pest, Honeydew secretion results in black sooty mould development on the leaves of the plant._x000D_ Host crops: Cotton, Sugarcane, Guava, Mango, Pomegranate etc. _x000D_ Life Cycle_x000D_ Egg: - Adult females of most mealybugs lay 100-200 or more eggs in cottony egg sacs over a 10- to 20-day period. Egg sacs may be attached to crowns, leaves, bark, fruit or twigs. The female dies after egg laying._x000D_ Nymphs: - Small pinkish coloured eggs hatches in 7 to 10 days. It damages by sucking the tender leaves, twigs and buds._x000D_ Adult: - Mealybugs are soft, oval, wax-covered and they are white in colour. They are flat, oval or spherical and they secrete wax-like material.
