Management of sucking pests in Bt cotton
Many times, sucking pests are observed alone or more than one at the same time. Under this situation, farmers may find difficulties in the selection of insecticides.
Select the insecticides on basis of occurrence of pest alone or more than one simultaneously on cotton crop.
Install yellow sticky traps for monitoring the pests.
Instead of spraying chemical insecticides directly, spray neem oil @ 50 ml or Lcanicinium lacani or Beauveria bassiana, a fungus base powder @ 40 g per 10 lit of water.
When only jassids is observed, spray acephate 75 SP @ 10 g per 10 lit of water.
When only whitefly is observed, spray bifenthrin 10 EC @ 10 ml or fenpropathrin 30 EC @ 4 ml or pyriproxyfen 10 EC @ 20 ml or traizophos 40 EC @ 20 ml or deltamethrin 1% + traizophos 35% EC @ 10 ml per 10 lit of water.
When only thrips is observed, spray spinatoram 11.7 SC @ 10 ml per 10 lit of water.
When aphid and jassids is observed at the same time, spray methyl-o-demeton 25 EC @ 10 ml per 10 lit of water.
When aphids and white fly ssimultaneously is observed, spray chlorpyriphos 20 EC @ 20 ml per 10 lit of water.
Jassids and thrips observed at the same time, spray lambda cyhelothrin 2.5 EC @ 15 ml or acephate 50% + bifenthrin 10 WG @ 10 ml or cypermethrin 10% + indoxacarb 10 SC @ 10 ml per 10 lit of water.
When whitefly and mites are observed at the same time, spray spiromesifen 22.9 SC 10 ml per 10 lit of water.
If jassids and whitefly observe at the same time, spray indoxacarb 14% + acetamiprid 7.7% SC 10 ml per 10 lit of water.
Aphids, jassids and whitefly (all these three) observed simultaneously, spray acetamiprid 20 SP 10 g or fipronil 4% + acetamiprid 4% SC 10 to 20 ml per 10 lit of water.
When aphid, jassids and thrips are observe at the same time, spray imidacloprid 70 WG 1 g or imidacloprid 30.5 SC 1 ml per 10 lit of water.
When aphids, jassids, whitefly and thrips, these four are observed at the same time, spray buprofezin 25 SC 20 ml or clothianidin 50 WG 1 to 2.5 g or diafenthiuron 50 WP 10 g or dinatofuran 20 SG 3 g or fipronil 5 SC 20 ml or flonicamid 50 WG 3 g or imidacloprid 17.8 SL 4 ml or profenophos 50 EC 10 ml or thiamethoxam 25 WG 4 g or acephate 50% + imidacloprid 1.8 SP 10 g per 10 lit of water.
