Such blue or brown/ black beetles at their adult and larval stage, both damage the newly transplanted crops by cutting the stem and defoliate the foliage. Usually, damage starts from the field boundaries and extends to inside the field. Weeds present around the field act as hosts for this insect. Insect damages the crop mostly in the evening and at night. Freshly transplanted crops are more subjective to damage than the established plants. This pest is now showing an increasing trend, so be careful about it.
