Know more about this emerging pest, chafer beetle in cotton !
These beetles have been reported to damage in Telangana and Southern parts of India recently. Population of these beetles was observed in the range of 01 to 07 beetles/ 10 plants. The adults are feeding on pollens, anthers and other reproductive parts inside the flowers and also on tender bolls. This pest was also noticed on brinjal, sesame, maize, sorghum and weed plants. Chafer beetle may attain a status of major pest of cotton in coming years in these areas and other parts of the country. Be alert about it incidence.
