Insects suck the sap from the green bolls. At the same time, growth of bacteria and fungus increases due to the fluid coming out from its body and impairs the quality of cotton. The incidence appears to be exacerbated during January onwards. Since, this pest also come with the harvested cotton, the price of cotton bale does not get good due to red spots on cotton during ginning process. Pest has been increasing since last 4-5 years.
