Gram usually requires only one or two irrigations; excess irrigation may affect crop growth and production. First irrigation should be done prior to flowering. This is the critical stage of the irrigation cycle. When two irrigations are available in light soil, the first irrigation should be performed 40-45 days after sowing and the second 60-65 days after sowing.
