Information about different varieties of sugarcane.
1) Co.86032 - This variety is better for adsali plantation year, and average yield is about 63.41 Tonne per acre. Sugar extract is also good. It is a medium late maturing variety and bears tuft relatively late. It has good spike, and it is medium resistant to the smut and grassy shoot diseases. It sustain to the short supply of water. Ratoon yield of this variety is good. Give 25 % more amount of fertilizer than the recommended dose to this variety of sugarcane.
2) Co.265 - This variety gives 20 to 25 % of more production than Co.86032 and it has greater length of the cane & nodes. It gives more yield in saline and sticky soil also than other varieties. It is better for ratoon too. In this variety, growth of all the spikes is uniform. Sugar extract of this variety is less compared to Co. 86032.
3) Co. VSI 9805 - This variety gives 22 % more production than Co. 86032. It also gives excess recovery than Co.86032.
This variety gives better production in shallow, moderate deep and drainable soil. Its ratoon is good. Sugarcane is heavy in weight, so, does not fall on the ground. It can be cut by the harvesting machine. This variety is also very favourable for drip irrigation. It does not bear any tufts.
Advantages & Disadvantages -
1) There is less proportion of spikes.
2) In rainy season, prone to pokkah boeng disease.
3) In the month of January-February, it gets infested by the stem borer pests.
4) 10001 - Do not choose, 10001 variety of the sugarcane for adsali plantation. It is better for the first harvest or the current season. Sugar extract is better in less period. Needs less water.
5) 8005 - Do not choose, 8005 variety of the sugarcane for adsali plantation. It is better for the first harvest or the current season. Sugar extract is better in less period. Needs less water.
