Various types of borers cause damage to the sugarcane crop. This damage causes "Dead Heart" and, as a result, the growth of plants remains stunted. Spraying insecticides in sugarcane is a challenging task. Precautionary measures such as avoiding longer-term water stagnation in the field, avoiding ratooning crops, choosing insect-free sets for new planting, installing at least one light trap in the field, etc. should be taken to minimise damage.
