Increased demand for Indian red chillies in in China:
New Delhi. The recent chillies crop failure in China has spiked the demand for Indian red chillies. Hence in the coming months, the prices of red chillies in the domestic market are likely to increase. India has signed an agreement with China in view to export the domestic red chillies. According to the sources in the Union Commerce and Industry Ministry, The Commerce Secretary Mr.Anoop Wadhawan on behalf of the govt of India entered into an agreement with the Chinese deputy minister of customs duty, Mr.Li Guo for procurement of chillies. This will also help the farmers producing red chillies in India to get an enhanced value for their produce.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed the barriers of trade coming between each other. There is a consensus on promoting balanced trade. In 2003, China first compromised on Indian mango. During the Modi government's tenure, the agreement has been signed on Basmati Rice, Tobacco and now chillies. China is exported to mango, bitter gourd, grapes, mustard seeds, basmati rice, non-basmati rice, fish and tobacco leaves.
