Hyderabad engineers built an electric tractor
Pune: At present most of the agricultural work is being done by tractors. Right from land preparation to harvesting is done with the help of tractors. But since tractors consume more diesel, farmers have to pay more for fuel. This makes it expensive for ordinary farmers to do farm work by tractor. But soon this extra cost of farmers will be saved. This is because an engineer from Hyderabad has built a tractor that does not need any fuel. Engineers in Hyderabad, who manufacture machinery at affordable cost for agriculture, have developed electric-powered electronic tractors to reduce rising fuel prices and pollution. A conventional diesel tractor costs around Rs 100 to Rs 150 per hour for fuel. Said Mubashir and Siddharth Durairajan have claimed that the cost of an electronic tractor is only Rs 20 to 25 per hour. According to both the engineers, the use of traditional farming machinery is more costly. This reduces the profit of the farmer. Also the maintenance of a traditional tractor comes at a relatively high cost. Therefore, if this tractor is used, it can save the cost of the farmer and increase his profit. It can also help reduce pollution. Features of this tractor 1) The weight of this tractor is between 600 to 800 kg. 2) It can carry goods up to 1.2 tons. 3) It takes 6 to 8 hours to charge the vehicle. 4) It can be charged at home. 5) If the battery is fully charged, it can cover a distance of 75 km.
