How to take soil sample for soil examination
In recent times, it is found that farmers are neglecting health of the soil. Lack of organic fertilizers and unbalanced use of chemical fertilizers has reduced the productivity of soil. Therefore, it is necessary that the farmer should get the soil tested after every two years. How to take the sample of the soil? • Soil sample should be taken after three months, after the removal of crops or before sowing, before or after giving applying organic and chemical fertilizers. For soil examination, 1/2 kg soil sample is required.
• For soil examination, take the soil sample in wavy manner from 8 to 10 spots of the field. • While taking the soil sample, dig a V shape pit of 15 to 20 centimeter, take soil from one side of the pit. Take soil from 2 to 3 centimeter thick layer. • After taking soil samples from 8 to 10 spots of the field, clean the soil free from stones, sticks and garbage items. • Mix all the samples of the soil in a steel bowl well and put through a sieve, then take half kilogram soil in a bag. Write farmer’s name, village name, Gut number of the field from where the soil samples have been taken on a paper. Put or paste that paper on the soil sample bag, and then give the soil for examination and testing. Purpose of the soil testing Soil testing is necessary for checking the deficient nutrients in soil for cultivation of the crops, and to determine the necessary action to fulfill it.
