Government will increase supply of onions, tomatoes and pulses to reduce prices
The central government will increase the supply of pulses along with onions and
tomatoes, so that their prices can be reduced. The Standing Committee meeting was
chaired by Consumer Affairs Secretary Avinash K Srivastava.
The government will increase the sale of pulses through central stores and successful.
The Central Bhandar is selling Arhar dal at Rs 86 per kg and Nafed has instructed the
Central Bhandar, Safal and NCCF to sell the pulses at Rs 80 to 85 per kg. Nafed has a
high stock of pulses. The central government has directed Nafed to sell pulses in places
where prices are above average.
It was informed in the meeting that the prices of tomatoes have come down compared
to the previous and further decline is expected. The arrival of kharif onion has picked up
and prices are already coming down. NAFED said that elections in Maharashtra are
over, so the arrival of onions will increase further.
