Government Strive for Information of Wheat Buyers
Central government is targeting the major wheat businesses, as it is seeking information from the Indian Food Corporation (FCI) buyers. Under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS), FCI sells wheat for Rs. 1,950 per quintal. The traders can save only Rs. 10-15 per quintal, according to experts.
Record 8 lakh tons of wheat has been sold under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) in the current season, according to a senior Food Ministry official, despite this, there is no expected drop in prices. This is the reason why the list of major buyers is required by FCI. With this, they will gather wheat information purchased and sold by traders. Only 14.21 lakh tons of wheat were sold under OMSS in the 2017-18 crop season.
