The central government is making every effort to double the income of farmers. Under this exercise, Government has started to form 10,000 Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) across the country. The government has announced Rs 6,866 crore by 2024-25 to form and promote FPOs. Farmers associated with FPO will be able to get the right price for their crop. At the same time it will also be easy to buy fertilizer, seeds, medicines and agricultural equipment. Services related to agriculture will be found cheaper and freed from the hurdle of middlemen. Kailash Chaudhary said that at least one FPO will be formed in every block of 100 districts of the country. Under this scheme, 10 thousand farmer producing organizations will be formed by the year 2024, for which Rs 6,866 crore has been allocated. It is necessary to have a group of 11 farmers to form an FPO. This group will be registered under the Companies Act. After this, the government will give Rs 15 lakh in three years after assessing the work of the organization. NABARD Consultancy Services will evaluate the organization National Agricultural and Rural Development Bank Consultancy Services will be rated based on the performance of the organization. Based on this rating, the farmer producer organization will get financial support from the government. To make FPO, at least 300 farmers should be associated in the field area and 100 farmers in the hilly region. The group of farmers can approach the office of NABARD, Small Farmers Agricultural Trade Association and National Cooperative Development Corporation to form FPOs. Actually, the Small Farmers Agri Business Association and NABARD were working on it. The two entities have around 5,000 FPOs registered.
