Fodder creation using hydroponics technology
Green fodder production using hydroponics technology is a good option in drought conditions for green fodder creation in low cost. Hydroponic fodder is the one grown in tray by sowing grains without using soil but only water. This fodder grows up to 20 to 30 cm in 9 days. This fodder has more amount of proteins and digestable energy.
1. To create hydroponics fodder bamboo, bamboo mats, plastic tray, shade net of 50% capacity, fogger system are needed. 2. Using this material, a shade of 25 ft X 10 ft X 10 ft size which can be accommodated in 72 sq.ft. area is needed. 3. To create fodder maize, wheat, barley are used. 4. These grains are soaked in water for 10 to 12 hours and then kept in a gunny bag in shade for 24 hours. 5. After that spread 1.5 to 2 kg of seeds in a plastic tray. 6. In this way the number of trays should be determined by considering 10 trays per a milch animal. 7. These plastic trays should be kept in a hydroponic fodder creation house for 7 to 8 days. 8. By attaching a lateral with 1 inch electrical motor, water should be given 7 to 8 times per day by fogger at the rate of 5 minutes per two hours. 200 liters of water is needed per day. 9. The fodder grows within 7 to 8 days. Generally, 10 kgs of green fodder is prepared from 1 kg of maize. Benefits of hydroponics fodder: 1. Good option of green fodder creation in the fodder scarcity situation. 2. Green nutritious fodder creation in less space, less water, less time and low cost. 3. The animals can digest 90% fodder. 4. The expenses for fodder are reduced by 40% 5. Increase in the immunity of the animals. 6. Increase in the fat content of milk, Milk production increases by at least 0.5 liters. 7. The reproductive capacity of the animals becomes active. 8. The availability of proteins, minerals, vitamins in the bodies of animals increases.
