Union Minister for Commerce, Industry and Railways Piyush Goyal today addressed the preview of the Fifth World Coffee Conference (WCC) and Expo to be held in Bengaluru from 07 to 12 September 2020 in New Delhi. The World Coffee Conference and Expo will be held in Asia for the first time. In his address, Goyal requested the Coffee Board of India and the International Coffee Organization (ICO) to incorporate innovation in this conference and expo by crowd sourcing suggestions from citizens. He urged the ICO and the Coffee Board of India to explore ways to make Indian coffee a brand so that Indian coffee brands can be recognized worldwide and make India a permanent destination for coffee.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry also said that ways to make coffee farmers a stakeholder in the value chain should also be explored as it will have a positive impact on the 25 million households dependent on coffee production in the world. He suggested that the price of each cup of coffee purchased by coffee lovers in the world be increased by one rupee and if this amount is given to coffee producers, it will have a positive impact on the lives of coffee producers and their families. Piyush Goyal said that the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka will fully cooperate for the success of the Fifth World Coffee Conference and Expo to be held in Bengaluru from 07 to 12 September 2020.
