Estimated Cotton Production is 361 Lakh Bales
According to the CCI, 278.83 lakh cotton bales arrived in the production centres in the current season until April 16, compared to 286.03 lakh bales in the last year. In the current season 2018-19, 361 lakh bales of cotton production is estimated.
The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) procured 10.7 lakh bales (one bale-170 kg) of cotton at the minimum support price (MSP) in the current Kharif marketing season 2018-19. Nearly 70% of total procurement comes from Telangana and Maharashtra. According to the CCI, Gujarat has 72.51 lakh bales, Maharashtra has 63.27 lakh bales, Telangana 35.46 lakh bales, Rajasthan 25.91 lakh bales, Haryana 21.95 lakh bales, Madhya Pradesh 20.75 lakh bales, Andhra Pradesh 10.27 lakh bales, Karnataka 11.56 lakh bales available in the market.
