Decomposition of post-harvest residues of sugarcane crop
•Decomposed sugarcane waste contains 28 to 30% of organic carbon, 0.5% Nitrogen, 0.2% phosphorus and 0.7% potassium. From one acre 3 to 6 tonnes of sugarcane residue is obtained. •Therefore, at the time of harvesting, it should be kept in place without being lined up or burnt, and if there is a pile of peck in a field, it should be spread. •If the cane is large, they should be sharply cut above the ground. This leads to sprouting above the ground and increases the total number of shoots.
•Immediately after harvesting of sugarcane, Carbendazim 12% + Mancozeb 63 % WP @ 2.5 g and chloropyriphos 50 % + Cypermethrin 5 % EC @ 2 ml per liter of water should be sprayed in the field. •To prepare slurry, mix cow urine, dung, jaggery, besan flour and buttermilk in 200 liters of water and let them soak it for 3 to 4 days. To this add 1 kg of sugarcane trash decomposing bacteria and give it to the soil. •Then irrigate the sugarcane field and moisture content should be maintained for the next 1 month. When the soil is wet, the top of the soil should be pressed a little so that it begins to decompose slowly.
