Centre: 20.50 lakh Tonnes of Sugar quota for July
The central government announced a total of 20.50 lakh tonnes of sugar quota exceeding the July requirement. The centre has set the cost of sugar at Rs. 3,100 per quintal, which means it cannot be sold at a reduced price. So the estimate of the sugar price continued to remain low.
Therefore, July being a monsoon month, the supply of sugar is low. The expectation was 18 lakh 50 thousand tonnes, according to market forecasts; however, with two lakh tonnes, more than quota was provided. That is why sugar prices are anticipated to stay low.
