CCI to Sell Cotton in Domestic Market from April
Given the rise in cotton prices, from April, Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) decided to sell cotton on the domestic market. In the current crop season, the Corporation has procured 10.60 lakh bales (one lump-170 kg) of cotton starting in October 2018. In the Ahmedabad market, the price of the Shankar-6 cotton variety increased to 44,000 to 44,500 rupees per candy (one candy-356 kg).
A senior CCI official said 10.60 MSP lakh bales were procured in the current season. He said that the prices of cotton have increased by around 2,000 rupees per candy throughout the week.
