Care of pregnant animals needed before calving
First and foremost, the pregnant animals should be kept in a separate place away from the other animals. The cow shed should be clean, ventilated and airy and should have good sunlight. The cow shed of pregnant animals should be near the house as far as possible. Insecticides should be sprayed in the shed so that it will prevent diseases in the animals.
The pregnant animals should not be kept at a place having slippery floor. Clean grass should be spread on the floor, and it should be changed every 2 to 3 days. The pregnant cows should not be taken to the hilly areas or to high altitude places for grazing. There should be enough space for the animals to exercise. High quality animal feed should be used. Mineral mixture should be used in the diet. Cows should be supplied with cold, fresh and clean water in large quantity. Agrostar Agronomy Center Excellence, 4th November 17
