CACP Approves Increase in Price of Dry Coconut
The Central Committee on Finance has approved the minimum average level of dry coconut support for a continuous average quality. The minimum support price for dry coconut for this year (2019) is Rs 9,920 per quintal, which was valued at Rs. 7,750 per quintal in 2018. This decision will therefore prove to be a gift to the farming sector for a new year.
With this decision, the decided minimum support price for dry coconut should guarantee the right minimum value for farmers and guarantee investment in the country to increase coconut production.
This approval is based on the recommendations made by Commission on Agricultural Value and Price (CACP). CACP experts analysed the value of prices, the prices of international edible oils, the total demand, supply and value of the coconut oil production process and the minimum support values recommended by consumers. This decision was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
