Buffalo breeds reared in India
1) Murrah - This breed is found in north India as well as in Maharashtra. The built is big, massive and strong. The milk yield in each lactation period is 3000 to 3500 liters. The fat content is more than that of cow milk.
2) Mehsana - The body characteristics of this breed are quite similar to Murrah. This breed of buffaloes give an average of 3000 liters of milk in one lactation period.
