Afghan onions are now available in India
New Delhi - Onion prices are a matter of concern for all. But now Afghanistan has begun to supply India with onions. Afghan onion has also started selling in various cities of Punjab for the past few days. In particular, onion is being imported from Afghanistan through Pakistan.
According to sources, 30 to 35 vehicles from Afghanistan carrying onions are expected. With the rise in onion prices in India, Afghan traders are keen to sell onions in the market here. In Amritsar and Ludhiana, the Afghan onion costs Rs. 30 to 35/kg. Traders are informed that they are selling per kg. When asked about onion arrivals from Afghanistan via Pakistan in India, a customs official said there was no ban on goods coming from Afghanistan. To curb onion prices, Union Minister Ram Biswal Paswan said that strict action has been ordered against the onion cases and against profiteering.
