Advice for cattle
Diet management of breeding bull • Give 2-3 kg animal feed everyday containing 12-15% digestible proteins and 70% total digestible components. • Give a lot of green fodder to the new bull. Because they need vitamin ‘A’. • If the bull is used more for natural insemination, increase percentage of animal feed in the diet. • For the diet of bull used for natural insemination mainly use minerals like phosphorus, selenium, copper and vitamins like ‘A’ and ‘E’. Lack of these nutrients may decrease reproductive power of the bull. • If more calcium is used in the diet, the bone of vertebral column and other bones get joined, so problems arise in the bull at the time of natural insemination. • In the diet of the bull used for natural insemination, along with proper percentage of all nutrients, a lot of drinking water at the right time is also needed.
• Avoid giving more or less fodder than required to the bull.So give green fodder, dry fodder and animal feed in the right proportion. Use silage, too. • If more diet than required is given, the fat gets deposited in the bull’s body and it creates stress on the legs. The desire for natural insemination decreases. • If less diet than required is given, the lack of nutrients is fulfilled and the reproductive ability decreases, too. • While supplying diet, the weight of the bull and its use for natural insemination should be considered. • The percentage of dry food in the diet should be 2% of the weight.
