Aadhar Mandatory to get Benefits of PM-Kisan Scheme from December
New Delhi: Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said in Lok Sabha that from this month, funds under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) will be transferred only to Aadhaar-authenticated bank accounts. Under the PM-Kisan scheme, the central government is giving Rs 6,000 annually to the beneficiaries in three equal instalments. It is estimated that 14 crore will come under the range of this scheme, but till date only 8.33 crore farmers have been registered under it. The amount is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Except for farmers in Assam,
Meghalaya and Jammu and Kashmir, Aadhaar was made compulsory for the payment of the second instalment for the beneficiaries associated with the scheme, but later it was relaxed until November. The Union Agriculture Minister said that Aadhaar has been made mandatory for instalments to be released from December 1, 2019. He said that the government has transferred the first instalment payment under this scheme to 7.66 crore beneficiaries till 30 November and about 35,882.8 crore has been disbursed to the beneficiaries so far.
