There is a proposal to give these pulses for mid day meal scheme and other schemes like that. The cabinet committee on economic affairs has recently approved this proposal. Currently the buffer stock of pulses in the country is 18 lakh tonnes. To reduce this stock, already the pulses are being given to the state governments. They are being distributed through the ration shops. Along with it, there is a proposal to provide pulses for Angan vadi schemes and various government schemes like that. This is estimated to reduce the buffer stock by 3.5 to 5 lakh tonnes.
