5 best formulae for cotton production
Farmer brothers, the most popular crop of the Kharif season in Maharashtra is cotton. To get maximum yield of cotton during this season, we will make a conscious study of some of the facts here. To have pests-diseases free and excellent quality cotton production, we will include following five important things in this study.
1. Selection of variety of seeds according to the type of soil- Farmer has got a common problem that which variety of seed to choose from the hundreds of varieties of seeds available in the market. Mainly, types of soils are black and fertile, medium to heavy soil and light or laterite soil, first think about which type of soil is there in your field. A variety of seed suitable for the heavy soil can be cultivated in light soil, too, but the production will not be as expected, it is very important to think about this.
In light soil- Any one of : Mahyco 7351, Alpagiri Total, Rashi Nio, Kaveri ATM,in medium soil- Any one of : Mahyco 7383, Kaveri Jadu, Rashi-659, Ankur-3028, Ajit-155 and in heavy soil : Any one of : Mahyco Nikki Plus, Ankur Suvarna variety of seeds is selected, production will be definitely increase.
2. Cultivation at proper distance- It is necessary to maintain proper distance during plantation according to the capacity of your soil and water management. Keeping the less gap may increase the number of plants but affects the flowering and it becomes difficult for inter-cultivation maintenance and spraying. If the branches of plants get stuck in each other, controlling of the pests attack becomes difficult, further, problem of blade falling is also faced. So, avoid plantation of the irrigated cotton seeds in the furrows having less that 4 feet distance. If the irrigation is by drip, the it is necessary to keep 5 to 6 feet distance between the furrows.
3. Nutrient management- In conventional agriculture production, use of fertilizers is unscientific and imbalanced.Main thing is that the scarcity of the fertilizers in past is less experienced now. So, it is necessary that balanced use of fertilizers is done. While planting cotton crop, spread local fertilizer and FYM. While sowing, use fertilizer mixed with Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potash.During first inter-cultivation cleaning, give one handful of Nitrogenous fertilizer along with it use red leaf preventive Magnesium Sulphate. In the third dose of fertilizer, use mixture of Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potash with micro nutrients to avoid the fall of leaves & flowers .The nutrients in the soil are important and along with it, if nutrients are sprayed as per requirement, it will be definitely beneficial.
4. Prevention and controlling of pests diseases- Since from the germination of cotton seeds, infestations of various pests occur phase by phase. Such as, initially infestation of Whitefly & Jassids is observed, in flowering stage, infestation of thrips, during maturity of boll, again infestation of Whitefly etc. are observed. Therefore, within the different stages of growth of the crop, if spraying is done before the infestation occurs, large amount of loss can be prevented. To prevent boll worm, use Pheromone trap, 6 to 8 numbers per acre after 30 days. At the same time, in flowering stage, spray larvicides twice.
5. Leaf drop management- The last but important is to bear the cotton boll on the plant without leaf drop. The reasons of leaf drop may be no Wafsa condition in the soil due to excessive rains, no uptake of nutrients by the roots, excessive infestation of sucking pests, cloudy weather and rotting of blades due to rain water, etc. The solution of this is integrated management.Such as, do not allow the cotton plant to have more height, give doses of the fertilizers, use Boron and Calcium through spraying. To balance the nutrients of the crop, spray the catalyst like Naphthalic acid.
