Subsidy Upsurge on Onion!
New Delhi: In order to reduce the supply of onions and increase exports, the government decided to increase the subsidy burden on exports by five percent to 10 percent. The decision was taken to increase the subsidy to increase the onion availability and increase prices if export growth improved. This decision was made because the country's onion price decreased.
According to the information obtained, the current subsidy for Merchandise Exports from India (MEIS) is five percent. The subsidy term ends on 12 January, 2019. It was decided to pay a 10 percent subsidy until 30 June, 2019. Source - Lokmat, 29 December 2018
