So far, 1.25 lakh tonnes of sugar production has happened in the country
The sugarcane-sowing season has started and 14.50 lakh tonnes of sugarcane has been crushed from 28 factories, producing 1.25 lakh tonnes of sugar. States of Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka witnessed an increase in sugar production this year, while heavy rains in Maharashtra have reduced sugar production.
6.67 lakh tonnes of sugarcane has been crushed in nine factories in Karnataka, out of which 60,000 thousand tonnes of sugar has been produced. Subsequently, an average 15,000 tonnes of sugar has been produced from 13 factories in Uttar Pradesh. The National Cooperative Sugar Factory Federation has given this information._x000D_ The decline in domestic sugarcane production is also expected to reduce sugar production. Therefore, this year the sugar production in the country will be anywhere from 260 to 265 lakh tonnes. A record 331-lakh tonnes of sugar was produced last year, which is expected to decrease by 7 million tonnes this year.
