Rabi crop purchase starts today at supportive rates!
Corona virus has disrupted human life. The virus has been hit by farmers, but the lockdown caused by it has left the food maker unwell. The central government is busy coordinating with the state governments to overcome this problem of farmers. At this time the natural disaster has ruined the rabi crop and lockdown has become a problem to sell whatever is left over. Many times the purchase of rabi crops has been stopped at the base rate due to lockdown. On April 11, the Union Agriculture Minister said that it would not be too late to buy Rabi season like wheat. At a video conference organized by the Department of food Governance, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told reporters that 80 per cent of the wheat, pulse and oilseeds seeds were harvested by farmers.
The Agriculture Minister also acknowledged the perishable crops, especially flowers and fruits, due to restrictions imposed by a nationwide lockdown. Responding briefly to the loss of waste products, he said that the trains would soon start carrying essential commodities and selling them in important cities would help farmers. "We have also implemented a market intervention scheme to help such farmers," he said.
The Agriculture Minister said that from the first day, it is our priority that this lockdown should not halt agricultural activities. The central government is taking measures in coordination with the state government. He said that wheat procurement will start from April 1 and the centers are working closely with the states to buy farmers' grains.
