Post harvest handling and care of mangoes
This process starts with desapping. This can be done in two ways.
1.Dipping mangoes in lime water solution.
2.Removing the fruit stalk and placing the mangoes upside down on a customized rack.
After lime water treatment mangoes are cleaned with water.
Then sorting of mangoes is done, which involves removal of scarred, bruised and defective mangoes. This process is usually done to remove the poor quality fruits from good ones.
After this, mangoes are purged of dirt and impurities with the help of nylon brushes and high pressure water.
This is followed by hot water treatment, which protects the mangoes from post harvest diseases.
Then mangoes are passed into a hot air dryer for drying.
After this mangoes are graded and packed in boxes according to its sizes.
