Major Increase in Honey Exports
Natural honey produced in India is in high demand in domestic and foreign markets. In 2018-2019, the production of honey amounted to 1 lakh 20 tonnes, and exports increased to 61 thousand 333 tonnes. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said via Twitter that there is a growth of 57.58% in production and 116.13% in exports over the last five years.
In the current year, India exported 61 thousand 333 tonnes, of which 732 crores 16 lakh foreign exchange was earned. Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh have seen significant growth in the market.
