New Delhi. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the introduction of 'Kisan Urja Surksha Utthan Mahabhiyan’ (KUSUM) with the aim of providing farmers with financial assistance and water security.
Three proposals for the scheme include:
• Non-renewable power plant to connect the 10,000 MW decentralized grid.
• 17.50 lakh agricultural pumps run on solar power.
• Solarisation of 10 million agricultural pumps connected to a grid of 25,750 MW by 2022. The central government will provide Rs 34,422 crore financial assistance for this scheme.
This plan will reduce carbon emissions and have a positive impact on the environment. This scheme will also lead to direct employment. In addition to increasing self-employment, 6.31 lakh new jobs are expected to be created for skilled and unskilled workers.
