Integrated management of Tomato Borer
Fruit borer is a pest in tomato crops and causes major damage to its fruits. It is recommended that chemical insecticides be avoided on a regular basis. As an alternative, follow appropriate integrated management steps to prevent fruit borer.
Integrated Management:  Install light trap in the field.  Grow African marigold plants around the field as trap crop.  Collect & destroy the larvae from the plants.  Install the fruit borer Pheromone Traps @ 15 per hectare.  On initiation of pest, spray Bouveria bassiana @ 40 gm per 10 litre of water.  pray HaNPV @ 250 LE per hectare.  Spray bacterial base powder Bacillus thuringiensis @ 750 gm per hectare.  Separate out the infested fruits at each picking and destroy them.  Before the severity of damage, spray Indoxacarb 14.5 SC @ 10 ml or Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 3 ml or Cyantraniliprole 10.26 OD @ 10 ml or Chlorantraniliprole 8.8% + Thiamethoxam 17.5% SC @ 10 ml per 10 litre of water alternatively.
