In ten years, only 16 food parks were completed
The mega food park projects, started 10 years ago in the country to reduce wastage of perishable food items. However, the pace of projects is very slow. Out of the proposed 42 mega food parks, only 4 food parks have been fully completed so far, while work has started in 12 mega food parks but they are not fully ready yet.
A senior official of the Food Processing Ministry said that to promote food processing across the country, the government has approved 42 mega food parks, out of which work started in 16 food parks but out of these only four mega food parks Are ready. He told that one of the food parks, which have been fully, prepared, Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Pvt. Ltd., the second Indus Mega Food Park Pvt. Ltd. in Madhya Pradesh. Ltd. Apart from this, one is in Karnataka and one in Andhra Pradesh. He said that operations in about three to four mega food parks is expected to start by the end of the current year.
