Himachal will Follow Organic Farming just like Sikkim!
The northeastern Indian state of Sikkim is the country's first state that is completely organic. Now, Himachal Pradesh is following Sikkim. Furthermore, a blueprint has been prepared to make Himachal Pradesh a complete organic farming state by 2022. Acharya Debavrat, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, said the goal of providing organic farming training to nearly 50,000 farmers has been completed during the current financial year. Onkar Sharma, Agriculture Secretary, said the state government has taken several steps to promote this method of farming.
The state government has allocated a budget of Rs. 25 crores for agriculture after adopting this method. With the Department of Agriculture's efforts, 3,000 farmers were brought under the scheme against last year's target of 500 farmers.
